Interview was requested by the O5 Council following Incident 049-17-BRAVO
Interview took place in Review Room-43 at Site [REDACTED]
<Interviewer: Dr. Christopher Avon>
<Interviewee: SCP-049>
<Date: [DATA EXPUNGED]>
<Begin Interview>
<Papers can be heard being shuffled around for the first second of the audio clip>
Dr. Christopher Avon: So, SCP-049, would you like to explain to me what happened?
SCP-049: You should already know the events that took place today.
Dr. Avon: It’s for the record, 049. What happened?
SCP-049: I was being transported from my containment cell to a temporary holding area so that your staff could clean up my latest project.
Dr. Avon: And what would that project entail?
SCP-049: Progress for my cure, of course! I was given one of your prisoners who I noticed was terribly infested with the Plague. He was a middle-aged man, slightly overwe-
Dr. Avon: Yes, subject D-18367. I am more than aware of your file on your… experiments.
SCP-049: Then you should know I was unsuccessful in completely curing my patient.
Dr. Avon: His guts were splayed across the floor.
SCP-049: Which is why the security guards decided that my room needed to be cleaned.
Dr. Avon: Getting back on track… what happened during your transfer?
SCP-049: While I was being transferred, I noticed that one of the guards was acting strangely around me. It was his behavior that drew my attention to him, and after a while I began to feel the urge to-
Dr. Avon: What. Happened.
<There is a long pause before SCP-049 responds>
SCP-049: He was infected with the Plague. It was one of the worst cases I ever had the burden to witness. The guard had to be cured.
Dr. Avon: Corporal Vasquez. That guard’s name was Corporal Emily Vasquez.
SCP-049: She was going to her severe case to everyone else in this facility. Surely, I should be recognized for that feat.
Dr. Avon: <scoffs> yeah, you’re being recognized alright. Continue.
SCP-049: Well, after I broke out of my restraints and reached my patient, some of the other guards began to fire at me. That’s when they announced the containment breach. Of course, this sealed me away with my patient and was able to do my work alone.
Dr. Avon: You created an SCP-049-2 from Vasquez.
SCP-049: ...it was the only way she would have survived past the pestilence. After I had saved your guard, some of the other staff took notice of my action, and then they ordered me and my patient to be shot at on site. Quite brutal, really.
Dr. Avon: And you also proceeded to-
SCP-049: What does any of this have to do with me? I understand my patient was acting… unruly, but that’s just a side effect of the cure process.
Dr. Avon: Unruly? You called what that [Expletive] did to Sergeant Richardson unruly?! She brought you his half mangled corpse, screaming in agony, before you killed him as well. After his arm was already ripped off!
SCP-049: Cured him, doctor. I cured him.
Dr. Avon: I don’t care what you call it, I see it as it is. Murder. Continue from after you turned the sarge.
SCP-049: After I cured my second patient, I came to the realization that everyone in the immediate area was already severely affected by the pestilence. I began to cure the rest of the MTF team which confronted me and the rest of my patients. The lockdown was lifted momentarily to allow another team entry, and I couldn’t believe my eyes. Everyone in this facility was already severe. Including you, doctor. I did the only thing I could to try and save you all. I breached the containment gate. And I cured every last person fortunate enough to come across me.
Dr. Avon: 39.
SCP-049: Excuse me?
Dr. Avon: 39 victims, including 22 staff and civilians.
SCP-049: ...why do you keep referring to my patients as victims? I cured them all, and they were alive and well, until you had them incinerated.
<The noise of more papers being shuffled is heard, and then Dr. Avon reads off the names of every person terminated in Incident 049-17-BRAVO>
Dr. Avon: Do any of these names mean anything to you? Every. Single. One of them had lives, careers, and families. God damn it, Captain [REDACTED] was planning on seeing his kid for the first time this weekend! And you think that you can tell me, that WE are the reason why they are dead?! You breached containment! You entered the living quarters for our staff, and you would have destroyed this entire facility, and let loose every abomination we have in here!
SCP-049: It was for the greater good, Doctor.
Dr. Avon: Greater good?! You think you can talk about <Dr. Avon proceeds to should several expletives and insults>
<A chair scraping across the ground is heard>
Dr. Avon: You have caused the deaths of over 3 dozen staff, caused a massive breach of containment, and almost broke out of containment altogether. Because of your actions, and the damage caused by it, you are sentenced to termination. The finer details of your punishment will be determined by the O5 Council, the senior management of Site [REDACTED], Dr. Historia Vanner, and myself. Your sentence will be-
SCP-049: You are afraid.
Dr. Avon: Afraid of a monster like you? We’ve seen worse.
SCP-049: You are afraid because you know you must be cured. Trust me, Doctor. Everything will be okay.
<Camera footage shows SCP-049 reaching out towards Dr. Avon. Dr. Avon instinctively jerks his body back, and pulls out a pistol from under his coat>
Dr. Avon, Off Screen: Quickly, OPEN UP THE DOOR! Get MTF to secure the subject immediately!
<Dr. Avon proceeds to fire two rubber rounds from his sidearm, dazing SCP-049 momentarily>
<Upon request, the steel door behind Dr. Avon opens, then quickly shuts as he crosses into the hallway outside of the interview room. SCP-049, who is now standing where Dr. Avon was, turns towards the camera, which anonymously zooms in on SCP-49>
SCP-049: <speaking slowly> Your time has come. Soon, you shall all be cured. And I? I will be revered as a god… for my actions. Until we meet again, Dr. Avon.
